On False Presumptions...

Another great marker of human quality is he who a) comes from little or no means, b) who accomplishes much, and c) who remains humble. Conversely, few are more vulgar as the “New Rich,” (those who by definition fulfill a and b but not c.

There is no shame in being poor. To be poor, ignorant and foolish, though is perversely pathetic .…I mean, who really needs a blue tooth stuck to their head at midnight in a fast food joint? The presumption speaks for itself: “I am so important that I need a blue tooth in my ear because someone may soon call in need of my expert advice.” Its showy. It is a symbol of power for the powerless who possess no real power themselves. It is the substitution of real power with a mere symbol. In the same sense do people parade their Pit Bulls on leashes through the streets. The dog is a symbol, which by virtue of attachment becomes a vicarious representation to their master. But the question begs; who is really being paraded the dog or… the poor fool?
